XiRead the profile for local band Xi. |

| "Xi - hard, angst-driven yet melodic rock born out of the need to be honest in a dishonest world. Reacting to a pressure-ridden urban environment not as inner city bad lads with a phoney veneer of rebellion - but as human beings trying to understand, trying to cope and trying to care. Anger without arrogance, pain without despair and somewhere, an un-extinguishable sense of humour and a flare of hope. "Working through national agent Pogomotion, Xi have recently released their first pressed single, Low, to critical acclaim - and have an album in white label waiting for the right offer (or the right moment) to release. "With a solid touring programme lined up covering northern Scotland to the South coast, Xi are set to raise their national profile in 2005." | | | last updated: 03/03/05 | | Have Your Say | | |

"I'm still not convinced that they are playing the kind of music that will make people want to part with their money, which is what it's all about in the end."
No it's not. It's about the five of us playing the tunes we want to play first and foremost. As long as we are enjoying it, anything else is a bonus. You obviously don't like what we do and that is your perogative my friend. Why not spend your time biging up music you do like instead of spending it moaning about something you don't? You might feel happier for it. Cheers.

Hmmm....that's a rather fancy way of saying "old fashioned rock" is it not? and covering Rebel Yell certainly aint going to catch the attention of any big Labels. Having been at a venue just recently when they were on the bill again, I'm still not convinced that they are playing the kind of music that will make people want to part with their money, which is what it's all about in the end. No doubt they will appeal to a small number of regular fans due to the old style rock but that's about it I'm afraid.

Amateur is not a word to be associated with any of the personnel in Xi. I have seen them evolve since they were 15 years old and their talent deserves National exposure NOW. Integrity to the music remains Xi's true north. Fad flavors of the moment will be forgotten tomorrow. Xi is unforgetable for all times. From their earliest recordings as Aeon up to their latest release as Xi, the tunes stand the test of time. The maturity and excellence in seasoned talent improves with each effort, but the oldest stuff has resonance that is just as infectious today. Time to sign these blokes to a contract or the US Labels will take the credit for bringing them into the bigs.

I disagree. I think they're great. Their cover of Rebel Yell is particularly excellent!

Seen these live, not very good I'm afraid. A bit amateurish and not very original.
