A Destructive Issue

Read a profile of local band A Destructive Issue.

ARTIST/BAND: A Destructive Issue
FROM: Leeds
BAND MEMBERS:
Richard Wells - Vocals/rhythm guitar
John Thornton - Lead guitar/vocals
Kieran McDermott - Bass/vocals
Adam Boole - Drums/vocals
BEEN GOING SINCE: June 2003
STYLE OF MUSIC AND INFLUENCES: Melodic Hardcore/Metal
BIOGRAPHY: John, Rich, Kez and Adam met each other in school in Pudsey and formed the band in June 2003. In their first few months together they concentrated on playing local venues, steadily building a following on the back of their live performances.

By January 2004 they had come to the attention of Punktastic.com who rewarded them with some invaluable early publicity and support. One of the bands first demo recordings was also chosen to be included on the first Punktastic ‘Un-scene’ compilation released in several countries.

Gaining inspiration and influence from a wide variety of styles and scenes ADI were quickly developing their sound and as the summer of 2004 approached the band began to play at venues further afield. Indeed, their fast growing reputation saw them rewarded with their first high profile support slot - sharing a stage with Hopesfall and Nora in August 2004.

Early in 2005, A Destructive Issue were selected as one of the winners of 'Bright Young Things' - the music showcase run annually by Leeds City Council. The resulting publicity saw their profile raised significantly throughout the local Leeds area and beyond and the band have worked  hard to capitalise on this, culminating in the band winning through to the final stage of Futuresound 2005, the annual competition for new bands held at the Cockpit.

The four teenagers released their debut CD on local indie label, Small Town Records in July 2005 and are currently touring the country in an endeavour to expand their fanbase.
