Add9

This nine-piece funky band are here to party!

ARTIST/BAND: add9
BASED IN: Hyde Park/Headingley

Becky Eden-Green - Alto sax
Millie Holt - Tenor sax
Mary Wells - Trumpet
David Steinberg - Keys

BEEN GOING SINCE: 2003 BIOGRAPHY: A load of music students got together for a few jams at the end of 2003. After a few months of noise and jazz and funk and noise, only the hard core remained. Thus add9 came into being. And lo, it was FUNKY.
STYLE OF MUSIC: Jazz funk, only more...  Some hard funk/hiphop, some swing, a few latin/funk/arabian/rock fusions..  Music to make you grin and dance like a maniac!
INFLUENCES: The nine members of add9 all have such diverse musical backgrounds that it's had to pin down our influences. We take inpiration from anywhere, and mix it all up, usually with a healthy dose of funk, to create music we love to perform for anyone who will listen!
FAVOURITE SONG: We're thinking of covering Jungle Boogie (Kool & The Gang).  And the Ghostbusters theme is pretty damn cool...
BEST MOMENT SO FAR: We got a absolutely amazing crowd at the Bretton Festival (04/05), but we're always looking forward to the next gig!
OTHER INFO: add9 is the World's Smallest Nine-Piece
***We're playing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! 17th + 18th August at The Lot on Grassmarket.***

Only EIGHT?! Blimey they really are good.

Mike
Saw them live in Edinburgh and they were seriously funky (and got a 5/5 review from the festival mag '3weeks'.) BTW there are only eight of them.

Tamsin
