The Smokestacks

The Smokestacks

Described as a boozy rock band with influences that unite the generations.

ARTIST/BAND: The Smokestacks
FROM: Hyde Park
BAND MEMBERS:
Gellsy Boy - guitar, vocals
Billy - guitar, vocals
Spender - bass, vocals
Pox - drums, vocals
The Scene - keyboards
BEEN GOING SINCE: Summer 2003
BEST MOMENT SO FAR: Releasing our single and then going on tour with Vatican Jet to promote it, being selected to play Unity Day Festival in Hyde Park for the third time, playing to a packed out venue in London supporting Alabama 3 and hearing ourselves on the radio are some of the better moments.
STYLE OF MUSIC AND INFLUENCES: We play a wide variety of songs and have a wide variety of influences. We don't really like to be pigeonholed. Think all your favourite bands from The Beatles to The Pixies.
SONG YOU'D MOST LIKE TO COVER: We would never agree but maybe 'I Want To Know What Love Is' by Foreigner.
OTHER INFO: We have one record release to our name so far, a split single with Vatican Jet on Engine Room Records. Our track was "We Can Drink Our Way Through This"

The Smokestacks appeared on BBC Raw Talent on Sunday 25 March 2007:
Interview: The Smokestacks and listen to one of their session tracks >
