Now
we leave the city and head east. We go almost to the A1, but take
a right turn down some country lanes before we get there. We're looking
for a village called Ledsham. |

Ledsham is just in Leeds, which is lucky for us. The Chequers was
Leeds CAMRA's Pub of the Season for Winter 2003. This award was
made on the strength of the quality of the real ales in the Chequers,
especially the beers from Brown Cow brewery in Selby, a rarity indeed
for our area.
The
Chequers is no stranger to awards, and has won many for its food.
The "foodiness" does not detract from the pub, and good
real ale is well know for being an ideal accompaniement for good
food.
Curiously,
the Chequers is closed on Sundays.
