First I start by going in to the Issue offices to buy my mags and find out about any news.

Then I go to bus stop and wait 'til 9.30am for the cheap fare. It takes me about 20mins on the bus then 2 mins walk to my pitch at the front of the Arndale Centre.

"But let's see them stand there all day long in the rain, snow and wind."
Wednesday 12 May 2004

I stand at the same spot for about 3 hours. I see some of what I call my regulars which I have a little chat with sometimes.

They will buy a mag, sometimes not, these are usually middle-aged women and a couple of men.

There are a lot of good people who live in Crossgates but also they have their share of idiots mainly young lads who call you names and say get a job.

But let's see them stand there all day long in the rain, snow and wind. Stand still for hours on end where your hands go blue when you are that cold where you just feel like home if you had one to go to.

Well then I rush back to the office to buy some more mags and call in to the hostel for a cheap meal.

Then rush to the bus stop to do the afternoon patch. I stand there about 3 hours again then I go cash up at the local butchers nice men.

Then go back to the hostel for my tea about 4.30pm. Have a little chat with the staff where they do a great job and help you with any problems just like the Issue office does.

Then watch a bit of TV then go to bed in my little room where I might read for a bit or just to go to sleep.

This is my life day in day out 7 days a week. So I think when people call you lazy and get a job I just laugh and think if you only knew what I do 7 days a week every single day in day out then have no home to go to relax.

It is so easy to end up homeless it could happen to any person.

I had a private rented flat when I was supposed to renew my lease he just said you have 3 days to move out I am selling the flat and I was on the streets.
