Despite City Square being the first sight of Leeds for thousands of passengers from the railway station it has had a series of designs since it was opened.

Recently it has looked something like an impressive traffic island during the building works.

The Black Prince and the nymphs that have surrounded his statue have seen a bewildering series of layouts for the public space.

Now City Square has had a complete facelift including new seats and lamps in stainless steel and bronze designs, to contrast with the Edwardian bronze statues and plaques.

The 99-year-old square will boast a new water feature with sixteen jets rising in a semi-circular pattern directly from the paving, illuminated with coloured lights.

The re-opening of City Square will be marked at on Thursday 21 November with the fountain and illuminations being turned on for the first time.
