In Abbey Fold you can see the grim realities of Victorian life, including two very different houses.

One is a worker's or artisan's cottage, the other a more middle-class dwelling.

The artisan's cottage is dimly lit and a simple table contains the household's books. A jacket hangs on the back of a door and candles illuminate the white-washed walls.

By comparison the other house is a grander affair.

Fashionable clutter
The room is well decorated. With rich velvet curtains and the fashionable clutter. It displays a higher level of wealth. (see below)
