Rain,
cold, thunder! There is nothing that can stop Shakespeare Primary
School from raising money for a good cause!
(Find
out how much the school raised at the bottom of the page!)
The
children of Shakespeare Primary School jumped to the beat to raise
money for the British Heart Foundation on a rainy day in May. They
used co-operation and teamwork as well as individual skills and
skipped to the funky sounds of the Top Twenty!
"My
favourite skipping music is Ashanti & Fat Joe singing
'What's Love?' It really gets you dancing and moving to the beat"
says Cherraine. " Yeh, 'cos you listen to the music and you
sing to the music and you really move to it and skip to the beat!"
adds jodie.
All
the children changed into their sports clothes in the gym before
going out into the school playground. They all got into teams of
four... "We took it in turns to skip for two minutes at a time.
It was a group rotation system" explained William.
They
skipped and skipped for two hours before lying in a heap exhausted,
but happy! "It really hurt your legs, but it was fun!"
said Craig.
It
was also after an intensive week's testing with SATs!!!
Beth
Milner, a Year 6 class teacher said, "It was something completely
different. After all that hard work they deserved a bit of fun -
and it helped them get active after all those long boring revision
lessons!"
When
it was nearly over, everyone was desparate to have one last turn
and luckily everyone did! Then all of a sudden, the bell went and
the teacher shouted, "Stop what you're doing and give yourself
a loud cheer!" And you know what? We did!!!
Whilst
the money is only just beginning to come in, it looks like the children
of Shakespeare Primary School have raised over £400 for the
British Heart Foundation! Well done everyone!
