Q: Can you tell me who you are and what you do at Shakespeare Primary School?

A: Well I'm Mrs Hall and I'm the headteacher at Shakespeare Primary School.

Q: How do you feel about moving to the new school?

A: Ooh, crickey. After moving last year I feel worried, pressured, but excited because I think the new school is going to be absolutely brilliant for everybody.

Q: How big a job is it for a whole school to move into a brand new building?

A: Well, it takes a lot of planning and organising. I think we need to start throwing things out again, do you remember all the skips we had last time?

I think we need to make sure we only take the things that we really need. I think we need to start packing early. We need to get a removal firm that will make a really good job of it ...And we need to start preparing the children to start thinking about the new school and where we'll be going.

Moving involves a lot of work

Q: How long will it take to move?

A: It will probably take from now until when we get there, so it's going to take us the best part of two terms, but the actual packing up and moving will be done in those last few weeks of the summer term.

Q: We've just started to get interactive whiteboards in schools, what new technology will there be in the new school?

A: In the new school every class will have an interactive white board, so those that we have already got we're going to move and will be refitted, so those that haven't got them yet, will have them. We will be taking the laptops on the trolley with us and we will have a computer suite which will have 30 computers, so every child will be able to work on a computer at the same time.

Q: What new furniture will we be getting in the new school?

A: Everything. We won't be taking anything with us. All the furniture is going to be brand new.

Q: Are we going to be leave anything behind?

A: All the furniture will be sold to other school. Anything that's worth having.

Q: Can you describe anything else exciting that's going to be in our new school?

A: Well, the fact that there will be a High school and a Children's Centre is very exciting. In the building there will be provision for children from 2 years old. Some children might transfer from us and stay at Primrose until they're 18 or 19, so I think that's going to be really exciting.

And I think there's going to be something called a Trim-Trail, like when we used to do cross-country and running round the track.

Thank you for answering our questions and best wishes for the future in our new school.

This is Lauren and Holly reporting for all_2gether_now at Shakespeare Primary School.

Update: The children and staff moved into their new school in September 2006.
