Why be a healthy eater?

Healthy eating is very important because it keeps us alive longer! Also, it gives us energy and keeps our brains and bodies working properly. Fruit and vegetables, vitamins and minerals are very important because they keep your body healthy.

Some people will eat almost nothing but sweets and fast food, it's cheap, it's easy to get, it tastes fab but what's inside that wonderful meal. There are so few vitamins and minerals and barely any fibre.

You need very little fats, oils and sugars but you need more meat and wheat products and lots of fruit and vegetables.

What you shouldn't eat much of and why.

You shouldn't eat much of oils, butter, margarine and cheese because it has got lots fat which is not good for your heart and has a lot of cholesterol.

We eat fatty foods because we need some fat in our balanced diet and because it's easy to get like take aways or going to restaurants.

What we should eat and why.

We can eat as much fruit and vegetables as we like because it is good for you and is healthy with lots of vitamins and minerals which helps us live longer.
