A word from Gareth

My name is Gareth Gumbs. I’m the cameraman on Searching for Truth. From the outset I knew this wouldn’t be a normal project. I got involved in making this collection of films because I wanted to convey life from our position looking out, this is us and how we see things. I tried to convey the fact that this is two black guys with a camera and a microphone finding out what is really going on. This is life when the camera not on.

”I started this as an experiment to see if life – the truth - could be caught on video. To give a voice to the unheard. Give light to the faces behind the News stories and the rumours that have tainted the areas we live in. I tried to shoot this as if the camera wasn't there and focus on the environment were the interviews were taking place giving viewers a true feeling of reality. I wanted it to feel gritty. Being out with Science is such a joy, because he is so infectious, the camera loves him. There is something about Science’s interviewing that always creates something special.
