As
part of the BBC all_2gether_now project, BBC Radio Leeds decided
to hand over its 774am frequency to five local community groups.
With
help, support and training from BBC staff, each group decided what
they wanted in their programmes and they learnt how to conduct pre-recorded
interviews which they also edited.
The
groups also decided who they wanted as guests in the studio on the
day.
All
the programmes were presented by local people who had been trained
by BBC Radio Leeds presenter Andrew Edwards, and they were broadcast
live from the new BBC studios in St Peter's Square in Leeds.
Over
the five days the voices and the views of the local community were
heard by tens of thousands of listeners.
