The Compton Road Library BBC Club was set up in 2003.

It's the first of its kind in the country and welcomes anyone who wants to make radio, short films or web pages to be broadcast by the BBC.

The BBC Club members decided that they wanted their two hours of radio to reflect the range and depth of artistic talent the area has to offer.

They also wanted to highlight how difficult it can be to travel the road to success.

Here's what some of the members had to say about the whole experience:

" It made me feel the BBC is more accessible towards ordinary people like me. It gave the community a feel good factor and it raised aspirations. People I bumped into said 'If you guys can do it so can I' "

" It meant a lot to me to be invited to contribute as it showed some confidence in my ability to make a positive contribution. As an unemployed person, such projects give a sense of purpose to life which can otherwise be in short supply "

" Most people that listened to it were pleased to listen to a familiar voice and the guests were happy to share their knowledge. The topics were down to earth which engaged the local/wider community "

Khadijah Ibrahim and Paulette Morris were chosen to be the presenters on the day.
