WEDNESDAY 30 MAY 2012
Today begins at 03:50 with In My Shoes: Rotterdam. This rich and engaging child led documentary explores the exciting and busy port of Rotterdam. Martine, a young Dutch girl persuades her Dad, a shipping agent, to give her access all areas. She introduces us to the massive container terminal with it’s robotic cranes, and gets on board with the pilot boat that drop off the expert sailors responsible for navigating the massive container ships safely into port.
We continue at 04:00 with In My Shoes: Germany & The Netherlands, revealing life in two of Europe’s most geographically and culturally interesting but sometimes overlooked countries. Through the eyes of seven local children the programme features the mountains, rivers and coastline of Germany and the canals, ports and flatlands of The Netherlands.
Finally at 05:00 we round off with In My Shoes: China, revealing the geography and culture of China through the eyes of seven local chinese children. It features life in the metropolis of Shanghai, on the banks of the Yangste near the Three Gorges Dam, in the manufacturing heartland of eastern China and in the spectacular and beautiful provinces of Yunnan and Guangxi.

FRIDAY 1 JUNE 2012
We start at 04:00 with a NEW PROGRAMME - Head Case. The reality of living with depression, anorexia, anxiety, bipolar disorder and addiction is revealed through the eyes of young people who have first-hand experience of these illnesses. Through their own stories we hear how they have dealt with mental illness.
We follow this up at 05:00 with Coping. In this powerful film, five young people phone into a night-time radio show to share their problems with host, Aled Haydn Jones. While the radio show is staged, the callers are real, and so are their stoThis series offers case studies of problems relevant to young people – from anorexia to depression, OCD to self harm. It ties into the mental and emotional wellbeing section of the National Curriculum.
Finally at 05:30 we end the week with Love Hurts. Introduced by Radio 1’s Sunday Surgery resident counsellor, Dr Aaron Balick, Love Hurts tells the stories of how relationships go wrong and can end up being emotionally or physically hurtful.

We start the week at 04:00 with Ecomaths: Primary, where Stefan Gates meets people using maths to find innovative solutions to the ecological challenges of our age.
We follow this up at 05:00 with After Life: Rot Box Detectives, a special spin off programme of the BBC Four programme After Life for learners aged 7-11. A team of young science detectives investigate rot and decay through a series of experiments and activities, assisted by Dr George McGavin. They even make their very own rot boxes which they fill with food and leave for six weeks. Featuring microscopic and time-lapse footage of rot from the original After Life programme, Rot Box Detectives highlights the beauty of decay in the natural world.

THURSDAY 31 MAY 2012
We start at 04:00 with Ecomaths: Key Stage 3. In this episode Stefan heads into the woods of Sussex to explore sustainable energy and meets a group of students who use algebra to compare different types of energy. He also visits a snail farm in Dorset and compares lamb and snail meat by looking at area, fractions and ratios.
We follow this up at 04:30 with more maths puzzles and The Code. Drawn from the BBC Two series, this is a compilation of six short films presented by Professor Marcus du Sautoy. Each film begins with a mystery that will be explained by a mathematical concept, taking viewers on an odyssey to uncover the code and reveal its meaning.
Then at 05:00 we have How to Write. Michael Morpurgo is among the contributors who reveal the sources of their inspiration and their writing techniques.
Finally at 05:30 there's a NEW PROGRAMME - Writing for Walford. A step-by-step guide for students on how to write good scripts for television dramas such as EastEnders and E20. Join Tameka Empson (Kim Fox) as she takes you behind the scenes in Walford. Shell be talking to writers, actors and directors from the nations favourite soap, asking them to reveal their top tips on creating gripping storylines, believable characters, relevant worlds, great TV scripts and ultimately, how to break in to the industry.
