World Olympic Dreams - Luol Deng
Team GB and Chicago Bulls basketball player Luol Deng returns to Sudan, the country of his birth, for the first time in 20 years. He explains what returning home means to him and why he wants to say thank you to the country that granted his family asylum. For further information please go to World Class school resources http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympic_games/world_olympic_dreams/9405838.stm
Using Luol Deng as an example, discuss with pupils what it takes to be a good role model. For example ask students what they think Luol should be proud of and ask if they could make the same sacrifices he has made. This could include written or art work and be something that they return to in future to reflect on their progress.
