South African Tales - Sipho's story
Using his own words, Sipho, an 11-year-old Xhosa South African boy from Cape Town in the Western Cape Province, shows us around his city and surrounding area. We see Table Mountain, the beautiful beaches and Sipho gets close to African penguins in the sunshine. He points out Robben Island from a hill above the city and explains Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first black president, is Xhosa like him. He is very excited about the 2010 World Cup and takes us into the stadium.
As part of an examination of children from other cultures. Geographical, ethnic and economic diversity. Importance of sport in terms of health benefits but also economic and social impact of global events.
