Where do the Adi live?
The explorer Bruce Parry travels to Arunachal Pradesh in far north-eastern India. There, in the foothills of the Himalayas, he intends to stay with the Adi tribe. Relatively little is known about these people or their way of life. Bruce has to refer to old books written by early explorers for information. This clip was first published as part of the BBC Tribe website: bbc.co.uk/tribe/index.shtml. Please note this clip is only available in Flash.
Useful in the context of a unit on cultural understanding and diversity or a study of people and their environment. Ask your learners to identify at least four different ways to describe the location of Arunachal Pradesh.
Further information about the Adi can be found on the Tribe website: bbc.co.uk/tribe/tribes/adi/index.shtml.
