Key Info
  • What young children make of the radio
  • Duration: 01:40
  • The expansion of the media is discussed in 1970. The clip is from BBC Radio programme 'Woman's Hour'. 'Listen with mother' was a 15-minute programme, which consisted of stories, songs and nursery rhymes for children under the age of five (and their mothers) and began at 1.45pm every weekday (just before 'Woman's Hour'). Here the producer of the programme describes how children respond to the radio - e.g. they sometimes think that the programme presenter is actually inside the radio set.
