Key Info
  • Travelling in the mountains
  • Duration: 05:37
  • Presenter Eils Hewitt crosses the Pyrenees to Spain by bike and car. All sorts of transport uses the mountain roads so avalanche deflectors are built to keep major roads open even when there has been an avalanche. Roads cannot go straight up the mountains as they would be too steep, so they weave and zigzag. Tunnels allow cars and lorries to travel through mountains. Mountains separate weather as well as countries.
