  • Andrew Graham-Dixon discusses the 'Discovery of Spain' exhibition. He shows examples of the contrasting views of war by British and Spanish artists, such as the horrific pictures by Goya compared to the glorification of the war by David Wilkie. At the end of the Provence war, Wellington brought home the Spanish royal collection of paintings that he retrieved from Napoleon's troops. A collection of over 130 works, it features art from Spanish masters such as Francisco de Goya, Pablo Picasso and Diego Velazquez alongside work by British artists John Phillip, David Wilkie and David Bomberg.
