Televising Hamlet: the assistant directors
John Wyver, explains the role of the first assistant director. He describes how the 1st AD schedules the show and runs the floor, with an important eye on health and safety, assisted by the third assistant director who has to keep an eye on noise levels on the set. The second assistant director explains her role in looking after the call sheet to ensure actors are ready to appear on set at the right time.
