Key Info
  • Talkie Time - count on you
  • Duration: 10:00
  • An interactive sketch encouraging children to join in. Presenter Rodd talks to the camera and dialogue is visible on screen for the teacher to read out. Rodd pauses for the teacher and children to engage with him. Rodd and the teacher are singing a song about counting down together from ten to zero. Rodd teaches the children the words to his song and learns a new countdown game where he has to shout and whisper alternate numbers. Rodd changes the game so actions can be inserted instead of numbers, for example, pushing your nose.
  • Subject:

Ideas for use in class
  • The teacher should read out the dialogue written during the sketch as though talking to Rodd. The teacher should watch this clip before sharing with the children to be aware of the song at the beginning. Encourage the children to join in with Rodd as he teaches them the words to the song. Play the countdown games together- these can also be played after watching the clip to consolidate learning. Have a number line on display in the classroom for the children to use.
