  • This clip shows First World War veteran Ivor Watkins undertaking a trip back to the Banks of the Steenbeke in Belgium in 1993. We see him singing old drinking songs from the trenches that recall relationships with senior officers. He also tells of an event he witnessed when two officers who stole a bottle of rum died of alcohol poisoning. There is also a memorial and ceremonial raising of glasses to the fallen – with a glass of rum! This clip is published as part of BBC Wales History Please note this clip is only available in flash.
