Quantities and value for money (signed)
Students are challenged to work out which is the best value paint pot from a range of different sized pots. After hearing how much each pot costs the students must work out which pot offers the best value for money. The presenter suggests a solution to the problem.
The clip could be used to introduce the main teachng point of a lesson focusing on finding equivalent amounts by scaling up or down. The strategy could be applied to other scaling quantity problems. If pupils have a secure knowledge of the strategies for finding equivalent amounts then the clip could be used in the plenary session.
