Piles of crumbly earth found on lawns, fields or in woods are likely to be mole hills. They are made by moles digging underneath the ground. Moles dig out large holes and tunnels that they then use for many years. They spend most of their time underground and are hard to see. If you are lucky enough to see one then look out for their rounded body, soft grey fur, big claws for digging and their pink pointy snout. This Green Balloon Club clip is published as part of the CBeebies website. For more clips and resources from the programme go to bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/greenballoonclub/watch/spots/.
