Minimising surface area of 3D shapes
An introduction to surface area in 3D shapes. We meet a bubble artist who explains how bubbles find the most efficient shape when they are joined together. We see many 3D shapes form in between bubbles, including a dodecahedron. First broadcast on 'The Code' on BBC2 in August 2011.
Could be useful as an introduction to surface area of 3D shapes at Key Stage 4. Can also be looked at when introducing 3D solids and their properties at Key Stage 3. Could be used in conjunction with 14279
