Mapping crime: designing crime prevention
Property developers need to consider designing out crime from new developments. The Quayside area of Newcastle is used as an example. Property developers can work with the police to promote security and alleviate the fear of crime. It is much easier to design out crime when dealing with new build projects as opposed to redevelopment of existing buildings.
This clip could be used when looking at designing out crime. Teachers could use this as an introduction to a project where students are faced with the task of designing a new development which is secure.
