Key Info
  • Living with the Darhad - herding life
  • Duration: 02:00
  • Life in the Darhad Valley is tough and the Darhad depend on their herds of animals. Most Darhad families look after herds of sheep, goats, cattle, yaks or camels. The Darhad diet is centred on the milk, cheese and meat which the animals provide and, as a result, they are treated with respect and care. Milking, herding and coralling the animals can be exhausting work and takes place in all weather conditions.
