La vida diaria en Ecuador
A feature about Quito, the capital of Ecuador, and the mountain village of Tigua which is renowned for its colourful crafts. Luis, a radio broadcaster from Quito, finds out about the lifestyle of the people of Tigua. A chance encounter with Alfredo, a painter, leads him to travel to the village and experience first-hand the mixture of land-tilling, animal husbandry and creative crafts.
A group could use this report as a stimulus for further research into a Spanish-speaking culture.
They could listen to Alfredo's account of daily life and complete a gap-fill exercise: Mi vida diaria es….vivir trabajando en la agricultura…..vivir con los animales…..y igual vivir con la artesanía…..La vida con la agricultura….cada día estamos saliendo al campo o al paramero para preparar la tierra…y igualmente estamos con los animalitos. Alfredo has been disappointed that his art work has not been more successful. Who gave false promises to the community of Tigua? (politicians).
