Key Info
  • Hip hop creation
  • Duration: 04:18
  • A hip hop musical introduction to the topic of creation and evolution, illustrated in part by animations. The lyrics describe the main events of each of the seven days of creation according to the Bible, then go on to present the scientific theories of evolution and the big bang. Finally the idea that both could be accepted together, where evolution occurs but God is still the creator, is touched upon.

Ideas for use in class
  • The clip would be a lively introduction at the beginning of this topic, presenting an initial overview of ideas, before looking at the theories in more detail. It would be useful to listen to the song once, then listen again, noting down any words that stand out. Students could be asked to split into groups, one to note down the order of events as described in the Bible, and one to note down events/stages of evolution. Ask students to place their own beliefs somewhere along a line between the two theories. What are the thoughts of those in the middle?
