Children as Domestic Servants

Children as Domestic Servants
Key Info
  • Children as Domestic Servants
  • Duration: 00:34
  • This clip explains that many working class girls became domestic servants. From a young age they were taught skills that would help them in domestic service. For most, life as a maid was all they could expect. Servants were poorly paid but conditions were better than in the factories and mines. The work was not as dangerous and they had food and a place to live. This clip has subtitles available in Flash.
