  • Capoeira is a physical discipline involving movement and featuring elements from dance and the martial arts. It originated among Brazilian slaves and the combat moves can be used as the basis for dance activity in a range of different settings. Brazilian dancer Claudio Campos explains the origin of Capoeira to athlete Colin Jackson. Developed by African male slaves to disguise their combat moves, dancers perform the basic moves of Jingra and kicking. The dance is not choreographed; dancers create a fluid body language as they perform. Colin takes part and comments on the health benefits.
