Ideas for use in class
  • Use in conjunction with clip 8632. A class could follow Silvia's tour with the transcript, identifying the following vocabulary, by underlining: 1. warehouses 2. cranes 3. but (when following a verb in the negative) 4. buildings 5. still 6. beautiful 7. places 8. leader 9. business street 10. firms La ciudad de Buenos Aires se fundó cerca del río, Al lado del río. A class could then locate the phrases that mean: 1. places that are not so attractive, which would really need things doing, to improve them. 2. but rather, is close to the river, where the town of Silver River was founded. 3. Here we have palaces where the people with lots of money used to live. 4. Previously, the river reached as far as where the streets are now. Finally, pupils could assemble a description of their own hometown that includes: 1. Where the town was founded 2. Where its centre is located 3. Describe a part of the town where changes are still taking place 4. Describe a particular landmark within the city.
