A View from the Bridge: Three Kisses (pt 1/2)
A dramatised scene from Arthur Miller's 'A View from the Bridge'. This scene is delicate and tender. Rodolpho is eloquent and articulate, using words rather than actions to make his point. The dialogue confirms his maturity and the depth of his love for Catherine. This is an important fact to note with what is to follow in the next scene.
Show this scene and ask students to brainstorm words that describe the relationship, and the kiss, between Catherine and Rodolpho. Then show them the next clip (part 2) and ask them to do the same of the kiss between Eddie and Catherine and Eddie and Rodolpho. What conclusions can be drawn by the words?
