Trees - root system and bark
An explanation of the extent of a tree’s root system below ground level. Its purpose is to provide support and allow the intake of water and nutrients. The function of bark is to give the tree protection.
This could contribute to a discussion about food chains or a specific study of the parts and functions of a plant. The clip could be shown in conjunction with a field trip to a wooded area, or with a tree planting scheme.
