Multiplication with square turtles (signed)
An introduction to multiplication using square turtles to demonstrate how a multiplication fact can be written in a number of different ways. Six turtles move around to show how six can be represented in different ways as a multiplication calculation. This process is then repeated for different numbers of turtles.
This clip would be good as part of an introduction. It uses the vocabulary 'multiply' rather than 'times' but the clear graphics make it a useful clip with the audio switched off.
It makes the learning easy with nice clear graphics which could be emulated in the classroom using cubes.
