Key Info
  • Discover Hockey – Olympian Sean Kerly’s story
  • Duration: 03:24
  • Former Olympic gold medallist Sean Kerly talks to BBC Sport about how football was his first real love. As a young Manchester United fan, Sean regularly attended matches and, finding that he was a natural player, Sean was selected to play for the U13 Macclesfield Boys Club. A change of job for Sean's dad resulted in a move and a new school. Upset to discover his new school didn’t play football, Sean was introduced to a sport his dad used to play - hockey. Sean reflects on how hockey soon replaced football as his love. Sean revisits his school and speaks to the inspirational sports teacher who made hockey interesting and fun. With footage of Sean's gold medal winning goal against Germany, Sean talks about his feelings on how unbelievable it still is to think of himself as an Olympic champion.
