Key Info
  • Expedition safety
  • Duration: 09:23
  • In the sixteenth century, Elizabethan explorer Sir Walter Raleigh embarked on an epic voyage to Guyana in the hope of finding the legendary city of El Dorado. Four hundred years on and the Serious Explorers, a team of children from the UK, are heading to South America to retrace part of Raleigh’s route. In Raleigh's day, if anything went wrong during the expedition it was unlikely anyone would come to the rescue. For the Serious Explorers it is a different world with modern safety equipment. Even so, in remote and dangerous places, safety depends on the experience of expedition leader Ben Major. Every expedition throws up unique challenges. This expedition for the Serious Explorers is no exception.
