Series One Athletes Mark and Richard gave us their opinion on episode eight in Sumbawa.
How did they think Joey behaved ? What did they think of the episode? Read what they had to say below, or listen to the telephone interview above.
Mark: I absolutely loved this episode. We've obviously been to Indonesia which was similar but the location was just phenomenal.
The episode I just really enjoyed it and the sport was phenomenal, what a great sport and the people were just so friendly. I thought that the lads took it in good sport as well. This was the one that I enjoyed the most. Rich?
Richard: Yes, I think this episode is going to end up being a lot of people's favourites. They had the element of having the animals there as well, the water buffalo's. What an incredible creature so sort of massive, and yet so peaceful looking.
My favourite scene by a mile was JJ sitting trying to bond with his pair of buffalo
Laughter
And it's licking his face. A really hilarious moment.
It was such an extraordinary sport and I think they will look back on that and laugh a lot about it because of how comical it was to begin with.
But it also took a lot skill to master especially with the bamboo sled at the back. It looked terribly precarious but they seemed to master that quite quickly.
Mark: I agree. You expected Murray to master that one quite quickly, although he did turn out to be one of the last to master it.
Richard: Yes that was unusual for him
Mark: Yes and then Ed sussed it straight away. For me, the episode was exactly what you said Rich.
The lads genuinely enjoyed it and you can see that they actually had a really good time. As a viewer I think you feed off that. It puts you in a good mood and makes you enjoy the episode more.
But one of the big points in the episode which interested me was Wole when he had dismissed the sport just because it wasn't something that he's good at or he didn't think he was good at.
As time progressed and he actually gave it a go he then turned round and admitted defeat and said "I quite enjoy this and I think it's quite challenging." It was nice to see how he admitted his fault. That was my fascinating point of the programme.
Richard: It's unusual for someone like Wole who is always thinking about how to get a win, to dismiss the sport so quickly. It was great to see how he took back his initial position.
It showed a lot about Wole though, that he really is just one of those characters who desperately want to win above anything else.
I think Joey seemed to let himself down a bit by behaving quite sulkily at the start of the week. He obviously got better but there were a few quite petulant moments when he wasn't that resepctful to his hosts.
It was good though to see Ed do a bit of patching up there. He stepped in and said "sorry he's not the type to like to loose and not doing well in sports."
Keep an eye out for Rajko and Richard next week, who'll be discussing Kushti mud-pit wrestling in India.
