On the final leg of their journey our athletes are in the middle of the South Pacific, heading for the isolated Admiralty Islands.
With just one event left, Wolé and JJ are tied in second place. But leading them with three stunning victories is Ed.
In the last round of their epic battle the guys are entering a two-day endurance race of mind-wrecking pain: canoeing on the open pacific.
Titan Canoe Racing
The Titan canoe race is an epic event that takes place across 2 days, around a 25 mile course.
The boys will race their outrigger canoes through shark infested waters and sleep on crocodile inhabited islands.
Training begins and unlike in Brazil, the athletes don't have to worry about falling out.
Any early confidence though is dashed after a 5 mile trial in 42 degrees. They're feeling the strain and trainers Kanawi and Paulin don't rate them against the locals.
The boys muck in with the tribe's ocean-based life, harvesting sea cucumbers from 25 feet down and fishing for the tribe's favourite catch: sharks.
They're also invited to join the local private men's club: the " house-boi". The soothsayer has his money on Murray to win and he's the lucky receiver of the native possum's anal gland fluids to seal the prophecy.
Back in training it's a sobering experience for the athletes out on the open ocean; if they capsize here they have to rescue themselves.
Murray leads the remaining four athletes, reaching the island of Wal before the sunset deadline. After a colossal effort Wolé is the second to land and with the light fading Ed and JJ also make it.
Day two dawns and the athletes are treating the remaining nine miles as a sprint. Ed takes the lead, chased by Wolé and Murray. But JJ is racked with pain from his injured shoulder.
Exhausted by yesterday's efforts, Ed falls behind. His title chances now rest with Murray overhauling the big man: Wolé.
The London firefighter's looking good until he cuts the corner of the reef too fine and is grounded. With razor sharp coral under him he's in trouble.
Murray closes in through the shallows but despite cuts to both legs Wolé finally breaks free of the reef…
Wolé reaches the beach victorious. He joins Ed on three wins, but victory in the final event makes Wolé the Last Man Standing.

I'm sorry to say but it seems we have been cheated, i see no reason why Wole wins the series, on this race. It appeared no harder than having to run up a 3000 meter mountain or racing through the artic. Fair play to him for winning this race after cutting himself to bits, but surely it's a draw. His win at kick fighting was nothing more than a Sh#t refeering decision. I just feel that this series was ruined by the finish. Well done to al of the lads for what they went through. Hopefuly some of them will lookm at the programmes and realise they act like prats.

That was the most tense episode over both series! I think most people were urging Ed to win, but well done to Wole who has been in the top 3 or so every single event. But it isn't fair that he gets the title from the series, his other two wins were very controversial whilst Ed has won several with grit and determination.
Shame this was the end to a brilliant series, but I will be glad to see the back of Joey, behaved like such a child in so many events, would rather he had 0 wins instead of Jarvis.

................ another great series, well crafted by the organizers and with a good assortment of personalities going for the Prize.
Me and the mates still laugh ourselves silly re-running the Amazon Mamas roughing up the boys for distracting their husbands from sex, priceless !!
The challenges were certainly tough and I can relate due to have some adventures of my own a while back which, with the perspective of time (and forgetting how shitty it really was at times), I now know to be worth more than gold, ............. time is too swift, so gotta seize the moment.

Having missed the first series I gave this series a go and discovered its actually one of the few programmes I look forward to watching every week.I could seriously watch this all year round. My Hats off to the producers and rock on Ed! Something puzzles me though, when clearly this appeals chiefly to a male audience, why make the next series with girls?? I'm not trying to spit in the eye of equality or anything but the thought of having to watch 10 girls bitching about each other for 10 episodes is really off putting, can't imagine this pulling in the viewing figures?Or is this an attempt to fuel the stereotypical idea that guys want to watch hot girls fighting? Which if anything, isnt what this programme is really about is it?So whats the insight into the change in sex?

Both stick and kick (ooooo it rhymes) fighting "victorys" for Wole were jokes! A foul kick should of handed the fight to Jarvis and Ed should of clearly won the stick fighting as well as A banned head blow from Wole there too (hmmm the word cheat comes to mind now). Series was completely ruined by the big guy unfortunately

I agree with one of the other comments. The series was really enjoyable but I feel ultimate disappointment with the final outcome. Wole's 3 victories were all hollow. Ed was celebrating winning the stick fighting when it was awarded to Wole. Jarvis was cheated out of one of the wrestling bouts when continuous low blows by Wole were ignored. And I don't understand how in the final race, Murray finishes day one hours aheead of the others and yet they all start day two at the same time.

Got to say that I agree with the first 2 posts. Very tense and enjoyable final episode, just a shame about the result.
Despite a very impressive display of determination by Wole in this last episode (though perhaps unfair that Murray's impressive lead after the first leg was reduced to nothing for the start of the 2nd day), Wole wasn't deserving of the overall title thanks to his other 2 wins being awarded when he should clearly have been disqualified on both occasions. The producers should have intervened, to prevent this outcome, which makes a mockery of the entire series. It was all the more bitter thanks to Wole's unlikeability because of his particularly fragile ego (though I admit he did seem to grow up a bit towards the latter events).
Here's to Ed! The true Last Man Standing.

What a great series with great competitors. The massive letdown with it as a show was the complete JOKE of a result. To everyone watching Ed is the last man standing on merit and although Wole was a true competitor he did nothing to justify the overall title. Wole's victories were undeserved in stick fighting and kick fighting where basically the referee decisions were completely biased, and to rub salt into the wounds Wole was 'helped off the reef by a local' in the final.
Series as a whole great, RESULT A FARCE.

Ed's win in India was just as controversial as Wole's philippines win, and the ethiopia win was a 50/50 decision, it just went Wole's way. In the end, Ed knew what he had to do in the final competition and so did Wole, it's just that Wole wanted more that time. You guys are just being overly harsh on Wole, he's a tremendous athlete.

How was Ed's win in India as controversial. Wole clearly kicked Jarvis where it hurts and was allowed to continue, by th laws of kushti wrestling Ed's move was a) not a foul b) worth more points, therefore IMO the controversy surrounding Wole was not in any way similar to Ed.

All the contestants knew what the rules were so in my opinion Wole won it fairly. However to me they are all winners as they must have gained hidden qualities buried deep within them at times of immense pressure, the whole journey was an education. For me I wanted Jayjay to win as he was unlucky in India,if he did not injure himself I am sure he would have taken that challenge and giving him more strength to complete the last challenge. But life is so unpredictable and full of surprises.they are all winners but the last manding is Wole, fact!

Ive been watching the series from start to finish and have to say its been the best so far despite some very controversial decisions.I agee with alot the points made about some of Woles wins especially the low blow on Jarvis. However i cannot say wole didnt deserve to win the last event as he really went for it at the end and never gave up which is the sign of a true athlete.
However....what was the point of all the athletes pushing to get a lead on the first day when they all started at the same time on the second??,doesnt this defeat the whole point of the word 'race'???...with the lead Murray had on the first day he should have won making Ed the last man standing.

Your silly stereotyping makes you look foolish, reefy26. Not all women are bitchy and not all men aren't, not by a long chalk. I'd watch Last Woman Standing (or whatever they'll call it) for the same reasons I watched Last Man Standing, as will many other people. It's not like naked mud wrestling as a sex show, is it? The only thing that would put me off is if the BBC do it with a theme of feminism rather than sexual equality. Any of that and I'll switch off.
There are plenty of women who are good athletes, so the BBC will just have to do the same screening as they did for men. Granted, you won't have a woman with the build of Brad or Wole, but that isn't necessary for this contest, especially since they'll be competing mainly against each other.
I think the biggest problem would be local men being unwilling to fight a woman. It would go against the usual ethos of men, especially warriors, protecting women.
We don't know that the next series is with women, anyway. They're recruiting now, so it will be at least a year before the series starts. That implies that it's the series after next, not the next series. It also hasn't be specified what the women's challenge is - it might not be like this one.

Well by the judgments of the ethiopian professional stick wrestlers, wole's the winner. (i still think what jarvis did was more difficult cuz he did it from a defensive position as well)
Not to add that the events were more suited to Ed than Wole (4 endurance races???? and 'technical' sport that is archery). India was equal to everyone (only JJ had an advantage) as they fought even matchup and buffalo racing which is totally random and pretty much luck based). All of those location gave Wole 0 advantages. Wole is a deserved winner, and how he won that last race proved it.

It was good to see Wole get a win he properly earned, though I don't think he truly won the overall title. Not with the repeated low blows in the kick fighting - that was wholly unreasonable.
I was hoping Jarvis would win this week, because he was a strong competitor who deserved a win and he had a good character.

Honestly the best program on TV!!!! BBC PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make another Last Man Standing, regardless of whether there is a female version also. I dont see why a females show wouldn't also be fantastic.
But the guys make for such an amazing show. Better than last year, all the guys were great characters, the locations and weekly competitions absolutely amazing. I am so envious that these guys went on this adventure.
Regarding the result, I can see why some have grievances about Wole winning the overall title. But everyone can make their own mind up about who actually deserved it.......they all worked so hard (well Jarvis and Joey not so much - though they were both fantastic entertainment)...to me it didn't really matter in the end who won. They were all lucky and unlucky in one way or another. To me there was no clear winner.
Wole was hugely impressive in more ways than one - amazing determination, huge strength and fitness.
Ed was a fantsatic allrounder. Despite being smaller than the others showed how smart and fit he was (prob the true winner)
Murray - a cool cool customer. Was very consistent, a great character and unlucky not to win 2 or 3 himself
JJ - Another suprise. Very serious, but a great athlete, and very unlucky not to have 2 or 3 under his belt
Joey - a big sulky baby, granted, but a funny funny guy who im sure could have won more if he applied himself - fantastic entertainment
Jarvis - very unlucky. Good guy, very popular with all the tribes it seems....and still a fantastic athelete, unlucky not to notch up one win but you could see he didnt seem to want it as much or try as hard as the others
Big winner here is the BBC!!! They have a gem of a show here - MAKE MORE, PUT IT ON BBC 1 or 2!!! TV at its best.
P.S. Out of interest, is there a process to apply for the Last Man Standing yet. I see the application for the Women's adventure, but anything for the Men's next series?

A great series, and we believe all the contestants deserve praise. However, what was the point of having a two day race at the end? Murray clearly won day 1, and should not the completion times have been summed up to give an overall result. This would have given him the win, and Ed overall.
Complain about this comment
genuinely what is this Pro ED garbage. It would have been the biggest joke if he won. 3 americans who had no heart were no competition. He should never have one the wrestling - he was fighting a child when jarvis and the others had poeple as big as them. There is no way Ed could throw anyone to the ground unless they were weak and small. His wins in the other 2 were more by default than great performance. He would have been the worst contestant but for Joey - who invited him? If Jarvis had won the wrestling, as he should, then all of them could have won overrall going into the last race. Wole beasted Ed in the end in an event that didnt suit him and he started dead last - fair play - goodnight go home

wole was the best athlete there, not only did he finish every event but he was close to winning every one. for some one his size he did brilliant to finish any endurance race but he finished them all in top 3. the reason i feel cheated is the u.s athletes didnt put any effort in and joey is a endurance moaner but overall wole was the best and deserved it. 2 series 2 brit winners come on you yanks send some decent athletes for us to spank.

Great Series, absolutly loved it. Although i felt jarvis was robbed of victory at least once with the kick fighting, and prehaps in india also. I would have liked to have seen murry win the outrigger canoe race however, and didnt feel wole deserved victory. Cant wait until next series.

Damn Straight Wole was a true champ with guts and determination! The yanks were way too soft and as for Ed he had the physique of a pubescent girl so he may have more chance of winning the series next year if they run it for females! Its okay being an all rounder and having good technique but you need a bit of grunt to go along with it as well. Wole had a barrow full, Ed had a hand bag!

Great series and great entertainment.
Surely the best part of the series was watching 6 very different guys go through so many trials and by the end of it all becoming friends.
Wole won it fair and square and it is very harsh to criticize him for refereeing descisions he had no control over.
As Ed said by the end of the first trial he thought Wole was an irritating so and so but by the end he was a man he was proud to call a friend.
To my eyes they ALL at times displayed courage and bravery so are all winners.
Hope there is another series.

It's all been said really. Wole's victories were a little bogus.
Also it made no sense to make the final event the deciding one. Ed had a 1 event lead and by making this decision they effectively revoked one of his wins. They are exactly the same thing. But if the producers had worded it differently "we have decided to revoke one of Ed's wins for absolutely no reason in a gutless attempt to ratchet up tension in the final" would we not all be outraged by this?
The system from the last series of casting a ballot to decide who should break the tie was much fairer and would surely not have resulted in Wole winning.
Outside of discussions of "who really won?" it's also important to discuss who deserved to win, who most embodies the qualities that we would attribute to a great sporting figure. If we base sporting achievement solely on victory without judging the conduct that led to that victory, we have to consider what sort of lawless sporting forum we are creating. And what sort of example is the BBC setting to the burgeoning young british athletes who watch this show by setting up a situation where someone like WOLE is held up as a champion? "all you have to do to succeed is behave like a self-centered thug with no self-restraint or technique, who pursues victory at all costs, no matter how it may endanger your fellow competitors?" Is that the message the BBC wants us to take from this series? because that's certainly the message i got.
Anyway, regardless of the GROSS injustice that we saw in this series (i fully appreciate that the program-makers have to go with the tribe judges decisions but this does not excuse the bogus "last episode wins" scenario) i'd like to congratulate the BBC on creating a really entertaining and unrelentingly positive show (in these otherwise cynical times). I would just ask that for their next series (which i keenly await) they show a little more backbone and make decisions based on the concept of fair play rather than boosting ratings with bogus stunts.

TheItalianHallion - explain to me why Wole is the true champ just because he is built like a tank? Of course, im not denying how impressive he was, but Ed for example won the first Canoe race, an event that requires immense strength. I know relatively Wole against Ed in an wrestling match for example would most likley be no contest, but to say Ed's body was like a girl, hence why he is not worthy of being the champ is patronizing to him and girls. Credit where credit is due. Could you do any better?

One of the best and most inspiring series on TV. It is a shame that it is now over. As for the result I think that you have to admire Wole, yes I was not pleased with the stick fighting and was utterly gutted for Jarvis as he should have won the fight in the Philippians but is does all come down to what the judges say.
Wole always pushed hard and often would give words of encouragement to the other boys.
In all gutted that Jarvis never won anything, felt bad for Edd but Wole this year was in deed the last man standing.
Well done

Whilst I was rooting for Ed and Murray (has there ever been a nicer, more self-deprecating man on TV?) all along, I don't think anyone should criticise the final result. It was made clear from the beginning that the decisions of the local judges were final and that in the event of 2 athletes scoring an equal number of wins, the positions in the final competition would determine the overall winner. Hats off to the production team for resisting any temptation to interfere with this to produce a more popular result! I take that back if the rule about the positions in the final competition deciding a tie was made up after they started filming the series. But I doubt it was, partly because of things the athletes said, and partly because I expect the production team wanted to avoid a "fudge" like last year's win. It's not true to say that the result of the tie-break rule was to deprive Ed of one of his wins - if anyone other than Wole or JJ had won the final competition, Ed would still have won overall.
I hope I am right in believing that the BBC didn't manipulate the results in any way, because otherwise the competition really wouldn't be a fair one.
The point of the programme was not to produce a sporting role model - tweaking the result even with that admirable end in mind would have cheated viewers. But nevertheless it was uplifting to see that during the course of the competition that Wole learnt from the others, and in particular from Ed (who manages to combine a hyper-competitive nature with good old-fashioned sportsmanship) - Wole was clearly thrilled for Ed when Ed won his mud-wrestling bout, even though that made his own task harder.
Assuming the result was not manipulated in any way, talking about injustice and unfairness really misses the point. There was a lot of luck (good and bad) involved all along. Poor old JJ had the worst of it, injuring his shoulder in training for an event he was favourite to win, and having to paddle for 25 miles in agony. But then it could be said that he had the best of it too, with compliant water-buffalo and a lucky hit in the archery.
Fantastic programme - can't wait 'till next year's!

well done lads and no its not a programme just for the boys. we women take delight in seeing just what makes a good man! its not all about sheer brute force and aggression! saw the man in Ed with his determination to learn techniques to master each sport (clearly a throwback to his varied training). we saw it in Murray and Ed who NEVER showed dampened spirits and was positive to the last, caring about the others. we saw it in Jarvis who, if it weren't for injury, would have kept on trying despite defeat (he had buckets of perseverance). These are the MEN who I would be proud to shake the hand of. And those of you others out there who aspire to make your girls proud-note well!
and in all we saw a maturing that will help them all out as they get back to their real world. Well done Men

What summed it up was Wole's protestations of "it was no way a low blow" to the judges while Jarvis was rolling on the floor in obvious agony, lack of sportsmanship makes him a true loser.
Murray was probably most deserving, Jarvis should have won an event, Joey has no endurance, JJ did ok, Ed surprised everyone, and should be crowned winner.

Call me old fashioned but the main reason I like the show is for the tribal fighting and hands on combat events. For me there were a few too many endurance type events this year which gave fencing champion Ed a chance of victory! As for doing any better than Ed i'm sure I could hold my own, but up against Wole he would probably hand me mines on a plate Jarvis style! The show in my eyes should be about Warrior spirit, and Wole had it whilst most of the rest were found wanting!

bottom line was that the show last night was pants ,whether or not the athletes knew that a tie would be decided like that - why not revisit one of the tasks that neither competitor shone at to decide a winner or toss a coin it would have been fairer. wole was helped by a local get his boat sorted whereas ed spent an hour getting his boat sorted- wole had more energy to overtake him because of this- i kept waiting for this to be brought up at the end but nothing. chances are he may well have won anyway. As others have pointed out getting to the second island gave no time advantage for murray. i think that all the athletes grew from the experience and as a result it was a great show to watch bar last night. i just hope that viewers dont think that strength and big muscles are all the prequisites for an athlete- sportsmanship is also important.

I think it was a great last episode because of the drama at the end. Everyone who watched the whole series knows that Ed and Wole are joint champions really. I think Wole changed quite a bit making him a better person and it was funny when he kept saying "strenght and honour!". I am a bit pieved that Joey and Jarvis bottled it after 30 mins but it looked really tough. I am also a bit concerned about the next series being all women. I hope this is a spin off and doesn't take the place of this show as women are simply not as competetive and why spoil a winning formula. I think the series has a loyal fan base now and people wouldnt like there footy team changed to women all of a sudden would they!

I don't understand how Wole won..The decision process was rather random.
Unlike most people I didn't find Wole particularily disagreeable so wouldn't have minded him winning if he won more competitions but he didn't it was a draw.
Also what was the point of Murray coming in first in the first leg then not being allowed to carry that lead on..Actually all the athletes could have taken the first day easy focusing on completing the first day instead of wiping themselves out. Seems the race wasn't well thought out..It's a shame I felt this last competition ruined the series because there wasn't a clear winner it was just a random decision..
Ofcourse you need some form of tie breaker..But you can't have a tie breaker until there is a tie and Ed wasn't allowed that opportunity...Perhaps points should be alotted for their performances in the competitions they didn't win so in the case of a tie those points can be added up to see who really won overall.
I think they really need to sort out the tie situation for the next series because last years vote off was also dissapointing.

I've been watching all the episodes of LMS and I must admit the last episode was great! I am disappointed that Wole won though as Murray should have won this challenge. Murray came in first on the first day, he beat everyone and he wasn't given the opportunity or the chance to leave early next day. Plus Wole was helped by a tribe member on the first day and on the second day he risked it and stood up on the corral and pushed the canoe forward which is probably easier, hence giving him advantage. As I said Murray should have won the challenge and Ed should have won the overall LMS! He so deserved it. Feel really sorry for Jarvis too, he seems like sucha nice guy and he was robbed in the Philippines. I guess over all it was a great show but i bet there was hell of a lot of editing!

Brilliant series - marred by the last episode and final outcome. I am glad to see I am not the only one worried about the 'sportsmanship' issue and yes, I do think that Wole had a few unfair breaks. Wole was an amazing athlete and as Ed said - he grew up and changed his attitude for the better. But 'Weownyoursoul' has summed it up very well and I will leave it at that.
P.S. This is an English Language forum is it not - what language was 'WoleNumberOne' & 'CheethamHillman' writing in? I know we are in an age of texting and IM, but this is ridiculous - as 'Sixtywon: They're not ordinary lawnmower engines' wrote - This is hurting my eyes!

Well done Wole! Absolutely great series!! To everyone who thinks Wole is underserving and producers step in and so on - that isn't how life works - if referrees call bad shots then they're called but they stand. I think the BBC is great for letting controversies like this happen - it is Real Life! And it is not the case that its unsporting - it would be if Wole actively persued a way to cheat his way to the top - all the dodgy decisions were down to bad calls by Referees. It happens folks! And the real men - that includes all the athletes - deal with it, and fight another day!

You say people shouldn't dislike Wole or say he's undeserving of the title just because he is big, yet you call Ed a weakling because he is small???????????? Oh, and I don't feel there's much need to add race issues into it.
I too, disliked Wole at the start due to his attitude, nothing else, but then grew to love his competitiveness....and a lot of his 'big talking' was just his inner monologue to gee himself up.
