Nick's Blog - Heat 3

4th August 2008

Nick Knowles

Nick gives us his take on the show with his weekly blog.

After the third heat show, Nick talks about 'busting some shapes', his love of Reggae music and how his favourite thing is to play guitar with his brother.

"Hello fellow choir fans!

"It was the final heat today - and the support from the audience was just unbelievable! It really added to the emotion and tension in the studio.

'One Love' for Reggae music

"It's hard to pick out just one highlight this week, but ACM's second song 'One Love' was just one of those numbers that makes you grin from ear to ear.

"It made me want to jump into the choir and join in. I was a mad Reggae fan when I was a kid and used to buy all the Trojan records, so I was bopping and weaving in the background. Luckily for everyone I was out of shot, but yes I enjoyed that very much and it's great to see Reggae in the competition.

Nick busts some shapes!

"Talking of bopping and weaving - it has been noted that I like to 'bust some shapes' in the background, and I've been pulling some great dance moves, all of which are drawing enormous laughter from anybody around me - so I won't be taking to the West End stage as a dancer any time soon!

Learning curve

"Once again we had the heart-breaking task of announcing which choirs did not make it through. It was hard for a Handbag of Harmonies, but I think they pretty much knew that they'd come to the end of the line.

"But there were tears from Hear Me Now and they were really upset. Maggie is a really passionate and positive MD, so I'm sure they'll bounce back.

"You know MD's are hugely influential, and you can see that when an active MD brings a lot more out of their choir. It was fantastic today to see them really going for it and now they're down to the last six they're really going to have to pull out all the stops!

Playing guitar with my brother

"In this show, a lot of the choir members have found strength and hope from singing in their choirs - and I can relate to that. My favourite thing in the world is to sit and play guitar with my brother. I know it's not on the same scale as singing in a choir on live TV, but it chills me out, calms me down, makes me feel at one with my brother and keeps us very close. So I get a lot from that. I have an acoustic guitar in my dressing room that I come down and plink away on to chill me out when I'm taking a break.

The Knockouts

"So it's getting really exciting now with the final six choirs preparing for the first live knockout show. If they're going to take it seriously and they want to have a chance in Last Choir Standing, they're going to have to work really hard. Tune in next Saturday to see what happens and to vote for your favourite choir!

P.S - "You know I couldn't help noticing that there were some fabulously attractive women on stage tonight - and a few good looking lads too! Perhaps singing brings out the natural beauty in everyone?!! But having gorgeous women to look at while I'm working is good - I'm all in favour of that!

P.P.S - "Don't forget to find out what Myleene thought of the final heat show in her weekly blog!
