Choir Profile

The choir is a part of the performing arts school “Glanaethwy”. The school of 250 members was started 18 years ago by Cefin and Rhian Roberts who felt that children in the area weren’t getting performance training. Children can join from age 7 and there is no upper age limit. Auditions are not required to join the school and Glanaethwy also have a junior choir. Uniquely, the choir sings in Welsh and they are very proud to be Welsh, which is demonstrated through their singing and song choices.

You are an absolutely splendid choir and it's great to see a choir of well balanced young people who are not "precious". The performance of "O Fortuna" was outstanding - a very difficult piece to sing as I know from experience! With best wishes for further success in the future

I did find it hard to decide between them and the eventual winners, but they were up at the top for me from the beginning. Such a lovely looking group of girls and fellas. I'm so pleased too that many of the girls weren't anorexic - obviously they are so talented that they have confidence in themselves. Good for you girls ( and fellas)
You were just magic.

The public got it wrong at the end and placed the final two in the wrong order. The majority voted for a very talented super-size boy-band rather than an exceptionally gifted choir. Do they have any plans to release a CD, or better still a video on DVD?
O Fortuna, Bohemian Rhapsody and Circle of Life (to pick out just three of many) were superb performances I could watch again and again.

You were my favourite choir. I was gutted you didn't win, but still, you can be very, very proud. I liked all your performances but Radiemus and O Fortuna were my favourites. I must just mention the girl who sang solo on Sombody to Love

Absolutely wonderful, how good to see young people performing to such a high standard and as a complete team. Shivers went down my spine when they sang O Fortuna

Absolutely brilliant. What a choice from your MD to sing O Fortuna. Had a grown man in tears and probably had a few thousand others the same. Hope you put it to CD. Hope you do a DVD as well. Brilliant. Im a Hendrix man at heart. Hope to see you on telly again. Cheers

Wonderful. This is the choir which made the greatest progress and which showed the most passion. Good Luck for the future! Please don't lose your commitment and enthusiasm.

What superb performances. I can't remember the last time a choir moved me so much. Wonderful voices. Makes me proud to be Welsh. How about a CD?
