Choir Profile

A mixed-voice contemporary, a cappella choir, they are made up of musicians and actors from the University of St Andrews. They study a wide range of different subjects from History to Arabic to International Relations. They are very well known around St. Andrews and are very popular amongst students. The Alleycats were set up by a group of friends 6 years ago, who had the bright idea whilst sat in the pub that they could create a group to sing at parties.

the best performance of this whole competition for me was your version of Faith/Valerie. Really thought you should have gone lots further!

Nicely done. Singing in tune without accompaniment from musical instruments is quite difficult. This is what a cappella should be.

Really enjoyed the Alleycats performance of Hallelujah and am inspired by the young talent that the group contains. Didn't spot the girl who fronted the group on the TV perfomance of Valerie and Faith which was beautifully mixed though.

I thought their audition piece was stunning and although the intricacy of the arrangements sometimes undid them I was very sorry to see them leave as other less exciting but maybe more technically perfect choirs were preferred. I hope they are given the opportunity to put some of their performances on disc before they go their separate ways - I'd love to buy a copy!
