Set in the small hamlet of Lark Rise and the wealthier neighbouring market town, Candleford, at the end of the 19th Century, the series chronicles the daily lives of farm workers, craftsmen and gentry, observing characters in loving, boisterous and competing communities of families, rivals, friends and neighbours. Lark Rise to Candleford is a love letter to a vanished corner of rural England and a heart-warming drama series teeming with wit, wisdom and romance.
The second series of Lark Rise To Candleford will see the introduction of new characters James Dowland (Jason Merrells - Waterloo Road), the charming hotelier and Minnie (Ruby Bentall - Oliver Twist) a new addition to the Post Office.
Lark Rise To Candleford is produced by the BBC and written by Bill Gallagher (Conviction, Out of the Blue, Wokenwell). The producer is Annie Tricklebank and Executive Producers are Susan Hogg and Bill Gallagher. Filming of series 2 took place in and around the West Country during the summer and autumn of 2008.
Series 3 returns to your screens in 2010.
The new series of Lark Rise to Candleford will TX in the new year.
