Dry the monkey
The French for monkey is un singe, the French for laundry is le linge and tumble dryer is un sèche-linge. Maybe you're ahead of me already!I had an architect into my kitchen in France. I just had the word singe stuck in my head and I wanted to say to him: "This is where we are going to put the tumble dryer", but it came out as: C'est ici qu'on va mettre le sèche-singe, this is where we are going to put the monkey dryer! The architect tried to keep a straight face but couldn't stop himself and then I realised what I'd said. You can imagine what an idiot I felt.

After having spit my wine all over my keyboard I have to say, that is just about the funniest thing I've heard in a year... freakin gorgeous!
I was in France with my uncle who was slightly tipsy and his French friend was very very drunk and my uncle was telling him to be quiet because everybody was trying to sleep and instead of telling him to shut his mouth he ended up telling him to shut his duck - Ferme ton canard!
It would have been even worse, or funnier, had you said le lèche-singe, the monkey licker.
My husband and I have literally cried with laughter at your singed monkey! We are beginners, and will no doubt make a lot of mistakes. Hopefully, just as funny.
Thats absolutely brilliant! If all my language mistakes were as comical as that I don't think I'd mind making them! I am very embarrassed now though as I broke the silence of our quiet office with loud giggles!
