Create a routine

Make time on a regular basis for your language learning. Little and often is best - ten minutes every day tend to be more effective than a marathon session once a week. But don't limit yourself to ten minutes!Create a routine for yourself. Try spending some time on the web every lunchtime doing at least one of the language activities on this site. Play your language cassettes/CDs on the way to and from work or when you're jogging or cooking.Make a point of looking up and using at least one new word every day.

I agree with this tip.

If you try it very often, it will be your routine and then you will never try it again,'cause you will have long term memory. -- little but often --

I agree absolutely agree about the psychology of learning. If you force yourself to sit down for two hours you know you won't. I have set an alarm to tell me time's up after an hour!

This's a efficient means for office workers! After all, learning languages is like a marathon rather than a 100-meter dash.

Routine is key! I dedicate Sunday mornings to French radio. I do my chores and listen to Radio-Canada. I also set my homepage to a French Canadian news site ... it keeps me informed on the news back home and helps me work on my current affairs vocab!
