Becoming members of the village
When living in Spain you have to make the effort to try and speak to the locals, or you will miss out on so many things which you will never hear about from your ex-pat friends. We live in a village called Fuente De Piedra, which is away from the coast and on the way to Seville. We have been welcomed in by the Spanish people and have made some good solid friends. We do have British friends and would not be without that, but we live in Spain and we are no longer English, but we are Spanlish now. A blown fuse on the electric and its gone five on a Saturday night. My next door neighbour took me in his car around the village to the hardware shop, he knocked up the owner and explained my problem and I promptly was given a box of fuses and I was told I could pay on Monday. We speak to everyone, we are starting to be taken as being members of the village not outsiders. It took very little effort to establish ourselves in this wonderful country.
