Ten Top Tips
|
- Make sure the clip sits well within the context of the lesson
- Explain how the clip fits with what has gone before and what will come afterwards
- Be clear as to what you want the learners to gain from the viewing
- Prepare worksheets/activities in advance
- Check the layout of the room; it's vital that everyone can see and hear properly
- Keep the clip short, otherwise attention tends to drift
- The soundtrack isn't all-important; the picture alone (moving or still) can be used as a prompt
- Don't ask learners to multi-task! Realistically, it's not possible to do more than tick boxes whilst watching and listening
- Offer a different task each time you show the clip and make it clear
- Equipment isn't always reliable; have a contingency plan ready!
