Watch, listen and identify who said what

Use these steps to...
... help learners understand the gist of what's said.

Select video clips...
...in which several people are interviewed.
  1. In the target language, explain the context of the interviews and try to get the learners to predict how the interviewer might phrase the question. Write up the question on the board or screen.

  2. Highlight a key word from each interviewee's response and watch the film clip, asking the learners to listen out for those key words.

  3. Give out a list of the interviewees' responses in résumé, and ask the learners to read them.

  4. Watch the video again, asking the group to try to identify who said what.

  5. View one last time to confirm the responses, and then repeat the question to the learners, inviting each of them to give their opinion.
